The Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Mr. Aggrey David Kibenge, has called on the fellow Permanent Secretaries to interest themselves in the development of our local areas as Partners to Government in identifying what economic activity is needed in a certain area to ease development locally.

He said while addressing fellow Permanent Secretaries during their visit to Palm Oil farmers in Kalangala, who have gains to protect.

They have a compelling story of how Government has transformed lives on the Islands from sharing the bush with snakes with palm oil plantation which has helped them buy cars, build houses and access electricity and better services. They are living a good life.

Mr Aggrey David Kibenge

“We must all work with Government to identify and engage in local economic development using the varied opportunities and endowments God has given us. There will be no short cut or easier way of developing our country, Uganda,” Aggrey Kibenge said.

He called on the people not to be dupped by ‘juicy’ manifestos the politicians are promising in a ‘new Uganda’ as if milk will flow along the village paths, a referral hospital in every sub county, free education in all universities etc. Some of them have no capacity to see how “conning in politics ” manifests itself!
