King Oyo excites subjects at Fort Portal City rally

The King of Tooro – Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru, on Friday, August 9, excited motorsport fans and his subjects at large, when he took part in the Fort Portal tourism City rally, where he showcased his rally driving skills in a thrilling competition.

Covered in motorsport gear, and looking quite sharp and fit for rallying, the King set the crowd in relentless screams when he showed up for the event, getting everyone anxious about how he would perform.

This came ahead of his coronation anniversary celebrations set for the September 13 to 14. Organized by the Uganda Motor Club, the three-day rally event was quite spectacular filled with adrenaline, culture, and community enthusiasm.

The event was part of the sports and cultural activities leading up to the Ekyoto Ha Mpango festival, also slated for September 13 to 14.

Gearing up fans for the festival, Honourable Joan Kantu Else – the Minister of Tourism, Tooro Kingdom said: “Following the success of the 2021 hybrid edition held during the lockdown, the objectives of this edition are to promote tourism, cultural exchange, and economic growth in the region, while celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of Ugandan culture. The festival aims to not only entertain but also educate, inspire, and showcase the Tooro region as the leading tourism destination in Africa. It is a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of the Tooro Kingdom while touring the wider Rwenzori region,”

King Oyo also thanked everyone who showed up for the event, and congratulated other other rally drivers to who part.
