Uganda’s young lifestyle and entertainment personality, Queen Birungi Amber Grace, has urged learners to remain focused on their education, avoid drug abuse and resist negative peer pressure if they are to achieve their dreams.
Birungi made the call on Saturday while speaking to learners at Bright Sparks Junior School, Sseguku Katale, where she was invited as the guest of honour at the school’s Prom Party.
Addressing the pupils, Birungi encouraged them to take their studies seriously and develop ambitions that can shape their future.
“I encourage you to be focused and aspire to pass with good grades and be ambitious to achieve your goals in life,” Birungi Amber Grace said.
She also encouraged the learners to promote environmental conservation, family stability and responsible citizenship as they grow into future leaders.
Birungi warned that drug abuse and negative peer influence remain challenges that can derail young people from achieving their educational and personal ambitions.
She urged learners to make responsible choices and speak out against drug use in schools.
“Students should remain focused because education is important in preparing them for their future. They should avoid groups and behaviours that can divert them from achieving their dreams,” she said.
Born on May 31, 2008, Birungi is a student at Taibah Secondary School, where she has gained recognition for her discipline, eloquence and leadership abilities.
Away from beauty pageantry and entertainment, Birungi has increasingly used her platform to advocate for tourism, youth empowerment and environmental conservation.
She has also expressed her ambition to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at Harvard University, saying education is key to transforming communities and empowering young people.
“I want to become a voice for the voiceless and inspire young people to use education as a ladder to success,” she said.
Birungi attributed her discipline and personal growth to the guidance of her mother, Dr Olive Enid Nabiryo, whom she described as her mentor and source of strength.
“My mother taught me discipline, humility and confidence. Every achievement I have today is rooted in her guidance and prayers,” she said.
Beyond academics and modelling, Birungi has participated in swimming competitions and youth mentorship initiatives, through which she encourages fellow young people to avoid drug abuse, negative peer pressure and other behaviours that could affect their future.
Dr Nabiryo described her daughter as a focused and ambitious young woman determined to use her talents to inspire society.
“She is disciplined, hardworking and passionate about excellence. She believes in using her abilities to inspire fellow youth and promote patriotism,” Dr Nabiryo said.
She also urged parents to support their children’s talents and ambitions, saying young people need guidance and encouragement to realise their potential.
“Every child carries unique potential. Parents should support their children’s dreams because talent, when guided well, can change lives,” she said.
The engagement at Bright Sparks Junior School adds to Birungi’s growing youth mentorship efforts, as she uses her public profile to encourage learners to value education, discipline and responsible citizenship.
