The polyglot who is part German-Colombian by nationality but raised in promising Arusha transcends language barriers by combining hints of English, Swahili, Spanish, and German. However, on this glistening new record, she opts for an English-Swahili combination as she weaves through the tasteful Amapiano cut produced by Daxo Chali.
“Kiti” is my ode to women. It’s a reminder to myself and any woman or girl listening, that we are capable, powerful, and really quite magical and that we should support each other. I meant the song as a call for gender equality and a seat at the table in all realms. That’s why the chorus is “tupe kiti mezani”.” Daada reveals.
Underlying the upbeat musicality influenced by the hip-shaking melodies of Amapiano, Daada resounds a powerful message on femininity and equality.
“Kiti” is a call to affirmative action and a message to not only the ladies but the world to give women a seat at the table.
Managed by Sandra De Kusserow who acts as her momager, Daada is a living testimony of what a women-empowered team can offer.
“Daada’s message is one of sisterhood and womanhood. It’s important to her to use her music to empower women across the world and working with a female-led team is part of that vision.” Sandra De Kusserow mentions.
The music video sees Daada straddle through the sandy white beaches as well as cut scenes capturing Tanzania’s budding women in their hardworking element. Choreography also brings more pizzazz to the motion picture.
In an interesting scene, we see Daada breaking the bias where executive men were having a meeting neglecting women until Daada shows up with a fellow powerful woman Martha and assumes the CEO seat symbolizing women taking back their power as leaders in modern society.
Daada has arrived from Europe to embark on a Kenyan (19th-24th June) and Tanzanian media tour that will see her touch a Kenyan audience, interact with influencers, play some shows, as well as do a meet-and-greet to integrate her music in the Kenyan space effectively.
